150 Tonnes Carbon Offset Milestone has been met thanks to our eco-conscious drivers

Since our launch in December last year, we are delighted to announce our motoring customers have now offset over 100 tonnes of carbon dioxide. This achievement highlights our commitment to reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable driving practices.

The milestone underlines how our car insurance policies have resonated with drivers who are keen to make a positive impact on the environment by enabling our policyholders to offset every mile they drive. This is accomplished through a range of carefully selected carbon offset projects, which are not only effective in reducing carbon emissions but also contribute positively to the local communities where they are based.

As of today (30th August 2024), The Green Insurer has offset a total of 157 tonnes of carbon dioxide—a figure that continues to grow daily as the company expands its customer base. To put this into perspective, 100 tonnes of CO2 is equivalent to the emissions generated by 120 flights between London and New York. This milestone reflects the substantial contribution our customers are making towards a greener planet.

Our innovative approach sees us reward customers and incentivise them towards carbon neutral driving. It remains important for us to continue to make it easy for motorists to offset their miles to help us all look after our planet better. So, in addition to our carbon offset initiatives, our policyholders can earn Leaves reward points that can be used to reduce car insurance premiums or exchanged for eGift vouchers, redeemable at major supermarkets.

Drivers’ policies are linked to a mobile app that monitors driving behaviour, assigning each customer a Green Driving Score. This score is used to calculate renewal premiums and offer discounts, further incentivising eco-friendly driving.

These initiatives are making a real difference as drivers look to reduce their carbon emissions and make their car journeys carbon neutral, and we look forward to offsetting many more tonnes of carbon dioxide in the future.
