Making learning to drive more affordable

Learning to drive can be stressful enough without worrying about sky-high insurance premiums or risking your parent’s No Claims Discount. That’s why we’ve added a brand new product to our range – short-term Learner Driver insurance. The new policy has been designed to be flexible, affordable, and environmentally conscious and should help to ease the financial burden associated with learning to drive for families across the UK.
For years, many parents have faced the dilemma of how to insure their learner driver children. The traditional options have been to add them to the family car policy (and see their own premiums shoot up) or to take out an entirely new annual policy for their child on a different car. This is backed up by our recent research, which showed that 56% of parents added a learner driver to their own policy, while 24% opted for a new annual policy on a car for the learner driver.
But neither of these solutions is perfect. Adding a learner to your annual policy can increase your premium by more than £1,000 and, if they need to make a claim, your cherished No Claims Discount could be threatened. Our short-term Learner Driver policy solves these problems by offering standalone insurance cover from 28-days that enables the learner driver in your household to practise in the family car, without having to shell out for another car or put the owner’s no claims discount in jeopardy.
As with all our motor insurance products our Learner Driver insurance also offsets all miles driven by the learner driver. Plus, their green driving scores can provide insightful feedback to instructors, helping learners refine their driving skills with an eco-friendly focus. They will also benefit from our Green Rewards. All this mean that it’s a win-win situation for both the environment and your wallet.
So whether you’re a parent or a learner driver it’s time to check out our new policy and enjoy affordable, flexible, stress-free learning that means you or your child can focus on what matters – becoming a safe, confident and capable driver.
